Christmas smells of cinnamon, cookies, and pine. Now, more homes can add peppermint to the list.
This lovely holiday hack, discovered by Apartment Therapy, turns round mints into some of the cutest ornaments or treats. The idea comes from a Christmas baking-focused TikToker called Mrs Claus Kitchen. With just peppermint hard candies, your favorite metal cookie cutters, a wooden skewer stick, and some string, you’ll have a minty-fresh set of decorations in minutes.
To start, preheat your oven to 350°F. Then, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and top it with your cookie cutters.
Now, take your peppermint candies and fit them into the molds, but don’t stack them. Bake them in the oven for seven to eight minutes, checking now and then to ensure they don’t burn.
During this time, the sweet treats will melt and conform to the shapes of the cookie cutters, turning them into snowmen, reindeer, and more. They’ll also create a neat red-and-white pattern that’ll dress up your Christmas tree. As a bonus, due to their edible nature, they may also double as cake toppers.

When the ornaments are still warm, take a skewer stick—with its tip buttered—and pierce a hole at the top to attach to a ribbon or string. You can then carefully remove them from the molds.
The tutorial has raked in over 900,000 views, with fans reveling about how adorable the charms are. Others are a little more practical, suggesting that people should protect the candy-made decorations with a sealant if they intend to hang them up on a tree.
