Hats off to Panera Bread, which has galloped forward with another whimsical statement piece, this time for Race Day. The restaurant has rolled out the ‘Bread Head’ hat, a fascinator-style cap that mimics the look of its mainstay bread bowls.
Crafted with a 3D-printed replica of the bread bowl, the hat is embellished with vibrant ostrich feathers, adding a touch of flamboyance to its appearance. Each piece is distinct, featuring variations in color and detail. The Bread Head carries a price tag of US$21, which is alright to stomach if you can look past the fact that it isn’t edible.

The creation of the Bread Head hat was in the hands of A-Morir Studio, a fashion house known for its daring and elaborate pieces worn by celebrities like Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez. It’s meant to complement horse races and spring parties, aligning its launch with the Kentucky Derby Day on May 4.
Panera has sweetened the deal by including a US$100 gift card with each hat purchase, drawing customers to try the 21 new and enhanced items recently added to its menu.
The Bread Head hat follows in the footsteps of last year’s BAGuette—Panera’s 12-inch green purse inspired by its French loaf.
Beyond the style statement, the dough made from the Bread Head and other items from The Panera Shop contribute to the Panera Bread Foundation, which helps fund community projects focused on supporting underserved and at-risk youth.
